Werder Bremen vs. Schalke 04 – Betting Tips and Bundesliga Preview
Werder Bremen disappointed us last time when we predicted that their game would have more than 2.5 goals in it, but that doesn’t mean we should avoid their matches. The draw against Stuttgart hurt their chances for European qualification, and they are now six points away from Bayer Leverkusen. Bremen drew their last three games (all had the score 1:1), but that doesn’t mean they won’t fight until the end for that sixth place.
Schalke 04 are having a very disappointing season so far. The team from Gelsenkirchen suffered a humiliating 0-4 defeat at home against newly promoted Fortuna Düsseldorf and are currently sitting 14th, which means the relegation battle can still affect them. They haven’t won in their last five games in all competitions, and it seems like they will be knocked out of the Champions League next week. Schalke had a great opportunity to win against Man City who had a player send off, but the German side ended up losing 2:3 after conceding twice in the end.

Team News
There are a lot of questions surrounding Werder Bremen’s line-up. Jan-Niklas Beste, Martin Harnik, Thore Jacobsen, Aron Johannsson, Sebastian Langkamp, and Yuya Osako are all doubts for the game against Schalke. Only Langkamp played in the last round against Wolfsburg, but he had to be substituted due to a shoulder injury and his participation in this match is questionable.
Schalke are without Alessandro Schopf who is injured and the suspended Suat Serdar. Weston McKennie and Bastian Oczipka are doubts and will have to be assessed before the game.
Prediction
As we mentioned earlier, we already predicted one Werder Bremen match finishing over 2.5 goals, and it didn’t work out (although it was close). Many would say it would be foolish to repeat the same mistake, but the stats and the odds lead us in this direction. Schalke are a team that ships a lot of goals recently – they have conceded three or more goals in their last three games in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Werder were on a great goalscoring run before they drew three games in a row with the scoreline of 1:1. If they want to compete for the Europa League spot, they need to return to that form, and what better opponent to do that against than Schalke. However, the team from Gelsenkirchen also needs to improve their scoring form if they want to play in the 1. Bundesliga next season as well. If you want bigger odds, then betting on over 2.5 can be a good decision. Just in case Werder decide to draw 1:1 again, we’ll go for the safer pick – Both teams to score which is 5/7 at Unibet.
