Everton vs Tottenham – Betting Tips and Premier League Preview
It is not often that a clash between Everton and Tottenham features both teams currently residing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, but their indifferent form has caused those early-season problems. It is also worth noting that the Toffees have only won home matches against teams beginning with the letter ‘W’ with Wolves, West Ham and Watford (twice) all losing at Goodison this season while Everton have yet to win a match on their travels.
That same away statistic applies to a visiting Tottenham team which absorbed much pressure on Merseyside last weekend before eventually suffering a 2-1 loss at Liverpool. Both outfits like to play attacking football as proved when Tottenham won the corresponding match 6-2 last season, but there is a general vulnerability in defence within each camp. This could literally be a game in which the team which concedes least goals will claim all three points.
It has not been the best seasons to date for Everton manager Marco Silva with six Premier League defeats already suffered including two losses at Goodison. However, a midweek 2-0 EFL Cup win against Watford on Merseyside must have lifted spirits, and the Toffees will now be eager to clinch a third successive victory on home soil. Defensive frailties have proved rather costly for Everton this term with more than two goals conceded in seven of their matches, but Dominic Calvin-Lewin is proving to be a fairly reliable striker with five competitive goals already scored this term. It just seems that consistency is lacking despite the team not lacking any energy in their play.
Tottenham will enter this game seeking a first Premier League victory since beating Southampton 2-1 at the end of September. A first-minute goal scored by Harry Kane last week raised hopes that Spurs could claim a shock victory at Anfield, but their brave resistance and counter-attacking tactics ultimately failed, although they were eventually beaten via a late penalty. Thirteen goals were scored by opposition teams in five games last month against Mauricio Pochettino’s players, and they have conceded at least twice in each of their Premier League away fixtures this term. A recent 7-2 home defeat by Bayern Munich only underlines their current problems in defence, yet Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane are proving to be reliable in the Spurs attack.

Team News
Hugo Lloris will not feature for Tottenham until the New Year while Eric Lamela is doubtful with a thigh injury. Ryan Sessegnon is recovering from a hamstring problem and could be available as Danny Rose is suspended after incurring a fifth booking of the season last weekend.
Yerry Mina is not expected to feature for Everton while both Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Bernard are longer-term absentees.
Prediction
Recent previous meetings between these two teams have yielded at the least three goals per game, and it would be no surprise if that outcome happened on Sunday. Yet predicting the winner of this contest could be difficult given the inconsistency of both teams this term. Tottenham have not won a domestic game on away soil since winning 2-1 at Fulham back in January while Everton have suffered two-goal margin defeats by Sheffield United and Manchester City at Goodison this term. With both teams equally capable of scoring and conceding goals a bet for Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score priced at Evens with Bet365 seems a good offer.
A second pick is for Harry Kane to score at any time offered at 10/11 by Bet365. Despite the indifferent form of Tottenham this term, the England striker does not seem to have lost his touch in front of goal with four competitive goals netted last month. Kane also scored twice in the 6-2 romp at Goodison back in December, and he will hope that he can score his seventh league goal of the season.
